Light is everything you'd expect from a genius on the inside; cold, slightly apathetic, narcissistic, megalomaniac, calculating, perfectionist, however everything changes when he slips into the role of the perfect high school student. He's kind, seemingly friendly, absolutely gorgeous, and very clean cut. You'd think this kid had it all (wait, he does). No one that knows him would expect him to be the mass murderer named Kira, well, except for L but that's for later. Because he's a genius, his hobbies include, but are certainly not limited to, doing homework, studying up on his fathers current cases, helping the NPA out when they need him, reading Nietzsche in original German (which just proves that he's fluent in both German and English), and spending a good amount of time killing criminals. You'd think being the super genius he is that he wouldn't have a social life, right? Well, You're wrong. Light's popular. Extremely popular. Not only with the ladies, but his guy friends, too. Before the Kira thing started, and when he had free-time, he would undoubtedly hang out with his 'friends'. He's extremely manipulative, and will do whatever it takes to accomplish his goals. He'd kill his friends, his family, strangers, and even those who are entirely innocent if it meant that he'd make a better, cleaner, more holy world. Light really does, indeed, care about the state of the world. He was willing to become a martyr, knowing that he'd undoubtedly be damned to hell for writing in this notebook, to save the world.
